FAQ

How do I book a photo shoot?
Please send your inquiry to fotostelle∂km.kit.edu
Please include important details such as the date, location, time, occasion, desired subjects, intended use, and when the photos are needed in your initial email inquiry
How much lead time should be planned for?
As a general rule: The sooner you contact us, the better we can plan.
For larger projects or those involving multiple parties, we recommend allowing more lead time. Last-minute requests are possible, but we cannot guarantee that they will be processed.
When will we receive the images?
Usually within a few business days after the shoot. For larger projects, the processing time may vary.
Even after a course, you will generally receive the photos within a few business days following the course. This ensures a careful selection and professional editing. A small preview selection can be made available promptly upon timely, prior arrangement.
How many photos will be provided?
A selection of the best shots is provided. The exact number depends on the assignment and its scope.
Are all images edited?
All selected photos are professionally edited and undergo, for example, color correction or light retouching.
Can we choose the photos ourselves?
Depending on the project, we’ll either provide a gallery of options or work with you to make a preliminary selection.
For portrait photos, the subjects also have the option to decide for themselves which photos should be edited.
What happens if you want to reschedule your appointment?
Please let us know as soon as possible. We’ll try to find an alternative date.
How are the images saved?
The final edited images are stored in the internal customer archive of our media database. The archive is not publicly accessible. Only authorized employees of the Media Production department have access.
How are the images made available?
The final image files are made available in JPG format via the media database through a temporary download link.

Photography for the "We create impact" employer branding campaign

It’s the people who make the difference. A visual style featuring unique lighting and a futuristic feel creates an unmistakable, instantly recognizable look. Modern, forward-looking, and clear—yet memorable, motivating, and open and friendly. In the photography, the focus was particularly on the lighting, the composition, and the subjects’ line of sight. A conscious decision was made to avoid having the subjects look directly into the camera. The subjects look slightly upward, toward the future. The photographers from the Media Production department collaborated with the Marketing department to produce the photography for this project.

"We—KIT"

As part of KIT’s 200th anniversary, the Media Production department was part of the project team for the campaign “We – KIT”. This campaign promoted appreciation and recognition within our institution. KIT employees had the opportunity to nominate colleagues whom they particularly value and respect. Whether for their helpfulness, their infectious laughter, their creativity, their reliability, or their positive contributions to the team.

From nearly 500 nominations, the project team selected 50 individuals who were featured throughout the anniversary year. On a weekly basis, a poster featuring a photo of a colleague was displayed at numerous locations on the campus and throughout Karlsruhe.

The photographers from the Media Production department helped develop the visual concept and handled the photography for the entire campaign. The staff members at the media database were responsible for scheduling appointments and organizing the visual media.

Event photography for the anniversary ceremony

At a ceremony on February 20, 2025, more than 2,000 guests celebrated the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) as a place of research, teaching and innovation that has an impact far beyond the region. High-ranking representatives of the federal and state governments as well as top representatives of German and international business and science praised KIT as a unique institution of its kind in Germany, combining a university and a large-scale research center. As an important research and educational institution, it contributes significantly to the attractiveness of Baden-Württemberg and Germany as science locations.
