FAQ

How do I order a photo shoot?
Please send us your request to fotostelle∂km.kit.edu
Please include important information in your first email request, e.g: Date, place, time, occasion, desired motif, intended use and when the pictures are needed
How much lead time should I allow?
Basically, the earlier you contact us, the better we can plan.
For larger projects or multiple participants, we recommend more lead time. Requests at short notice are possible, but cannot be guaranteed.
Can we exert influence during the shoot?
Yes, within the framework of the planned schedule. To ensure efficient work, we recommend that you name a contact person.
When will we receive the photo material?
Usually within a few working days after the shoot. The processing time may vary for larger projects.
Even after an event, you will usually receive the images within a few working days of the event, so that we can ensure a careful selection and professional processing. A small pre-selection can be made available promptly by prior arrangement.
How many images will be provided?
A selection of the best photos will be provided. The exact number depends on the order and scope.
Are all images edited?
All selected photos are professionally edited and receive, for example, color correction or light retouching.
Can we select the images ourselves?
Depending on the project, we provide a selection gallery or make a pre-selection together with you.
In the case of portrait photos, the people photographed also have the option of deciding for themselves which photos should be edited.
What happens if the appointment is postponed?
Please inform us as early as possible. We will try to find an alternative date.
How are the photos saved?
The final edited images are stored in the internal customer archive of our media database. The archive is not accessible to the public. Only the responsible employees in the Media Production department have access.
How are the images made available?
The final image data is made available in jpg format via the media database using a time-limited download link.

Projects

Photography for employer branding

It's the people who make the difference. An image style with special light and a futuristic look creates an unmistakable recognition effect. Modern, forward-looking and clear - at the same time memorable, motivating, open and friendly. In the photography, the focus was particularly on the light and image composition as well as the direction of the people's gaze. A conscious decision was made not to look directly into the camera. The people portrayed look slightly upwards, towards the future. The photographers from the Media Production department worked together with the Marketing team on the photography for this project.

"We - the KIT"

As part of KIT's 200th anniversary, we provided photographic support for the "We - the KIT" campaign. This campaign promoted appreciation and recognition within our institution. KIT employees had the opportunity to nominate colleagues who they particularly appreciate and respect. Whether for their helpfulness, their infectious laughter, their creativity, their reliability or their positive contributions to the team.

From almost 500 nominations, the project team selected 50 people who were presented during the anniversary year. Every week, a poster with the photo of a colleague was presented at numerous locations in the city of Karlsruhe and on campus.

The photographers from the Media Production department helped to develop the image concept and produced the photography for the entire campaign. The colleagues at the media database were responsible for arranging appointments and organizing the image media.

Event photography for the anniversary ceremony

At a ceremony on February 20, 2025, more than 2,000 guests celebrated the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) as a place of research, teaching and innovation that has an impact far beyond the region. High-ranking representatives of the federal and state governments as well as top representatives of German and international business and science praised KIT as a unique institution of its kind in Germany, combining a university and a large-scale research center. As an important research and educational institution, it contributes significantly to the attractiveness of Baden-Württemberg and Germany as science locations.
