FAQ

Who can use the printing service?
The printing service is only available to internal institutions, employees and students of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
A valid cost center/PSP element must be specified in order to order the service. External requests cannot be considered.
Where is the printing service located?
Campus South, Building 11.40, Room 130 (basement)
How can I submit a print job?
Print jobs should be submitted digitally, e.g. by e-mail or via the upload solutions provided.
For reasons of data security and a smooth workflow, it is no longer possible to submit files via USB sticks or other external storage media on site.
Are there maximum file sizes for uploads?
For very large files, we recommend BW Sync&Share or prior consultation with the print service.
Can I still make changes after placing the order?
Changes are only possible as long as the order is not yet in production. In this case, please contact the print service as soon as possible.
Are there any specifications for print data?
Yes, please observe the following standards for optimum printing results:
- File format: PDF files preferred
- Resolution: at least 300 dpi for images and graphics
- Color mode: CMYK
- Bleed: please create a 3 mm bleed for elements that fall off the edge
Will my data be checked before printing?
A basic visual check is possible. The client is responsible for the content and technical accuracy of the print data.
How long does a print job take?
The processing time depends on the scope and workload. Smaller orders can often be completed at short notice, while larger productions require a corresponding lead time.
In urgent cases, express processing is possible after consultation.
How are the prices calculated?
The prices depend on the scope, color content, choice of paper and desired further processing.
Can I get advice in advance?
Yes, the print service team will support you in selecting printing options and optimally implementing your project.
What types of paper are available?
Environmental paper with the "Blue Angel" certificate inPaper thicknesses from 80-300g up to a size of DIN A3 oversize (450x320mm).
Will my data be stored or archived?
Print data is used exclusively for contract processing and is not generally archived permanently. A new transmission is required for reprints.
