WELCOME EVENT
At the end of the traditional orientation period, the Executive Board of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology welcomes all new students. Come to the Welcome Event to learn about other interesting institutions, organizations, and student organizations at KIT—and meet even more great people.
Registration for the event is required via the link below—this is the only way to secure a voucher for a meal and a drink at the info counter in or near the tent on the forecourt.
Before the main program begins, as part of Welcome Day, a backpack sale will take place in the foyer of the Audimax starting at 10:00 a.m., and a coffee truck will be serving free coffee to first-semester students in front of the Audimax.
Here’s what you can expect in the tent starting at 6:00 p.m.:
- Kickoff with the KampusKapelle
- Welcome address by Prof. Oliver Kraft, Vice President for Research, Teaching, and Academic Affairs
- Welcome address by the AStA, represented by Franka Fockel and Felix Häusler
- Awards for outstanding student engagement
At 6:30 p.m., the KampusKapelle will perform again, and the food trucks in front of the Audimax as well as the exhibition in the Audimax foyer will open. Starting around 7:00 p.m., DJ Fruchtsecco will take over and keep the energy high in and around the tent.
Everything will wrap up by 10:00 p.m. at the latest.

Find out everything you need to know about starting your studies.

The KampusKapelle—one of the many student groups at KIT—brings a bit of a "Wies'n" atmosphere to campus.

"DJ Fruchtsecco" will provide the perfect soundtrack for the welcome event.

To fuel your networking and keep up with all the information, stop by the food stands and beverage bar set up for you by the student-run AKK. If you arrive early, you’ll have the chance to receive food and drink vouchers as a welcome gift when you check in at the tent in front of the Audimax.
