When and where will the graduation ceremony take place?
The doctorate ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Weinbrenner Hall at the Stadthalle, Karlsruhe Congress Center.
The Bachelor’s/Master’s graduation ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Weinbrenner Hall at the Stadthalle in the Karlsruhe Convention Center.
Is there a dress code?
The course will take place in a festive setting. Please wear clothing in which you feel comfortable. We recommend a smart-casual look.
Graduates have the option to rent a gown and cap from Robe Academicus for a fee. You will automatically receive more detailed information about the rental process after registering for the event.
Is the event accessible?
Yes. Both the event rooms in the Stadthalle Karlsruhe and the surrounding areas are accessible. Accessible parking spaces are located on Parking Deck C of the “Kongresszentrum” underground parking garage. An elevator is available in the hallway near the “Hotel” exit.
How do I get to the course?
The Congress Center is very easily accessible by public transportation. The name of the destination stop is Karlsruhe Congress Center (U). The “Kongresszentrum” public underground parking garage, which has 1,000 parking spaces, is part of the Kongresszentrum. Accessible parking spaces are located on parking deck C. If these are not sufficient, the mother-and-child parking spaces may also be used. The elevator is located in the hallway of the “Hotel” exit. The parking garage has three green-marked electric vehicle charging stations, also located on parking deck C. Here, you can charge your electric vehicle (with a Type 2 plug) for a fee. Please note: The ceiling height is 1.90 meters.
What is included in the price?
Your ticket grants you access to the graduation ceremony. Admission to the course is permitted only with a valid ticket.
After entering the Stadthalle, please check in at the registration counters in the entrance area.

There you will receive:
- a refreshment voucher for a glass of sparkling wine or a non-alcoholic alternative,
- a colored wristband for access to your assigned event hall,
- and a gift voucher as a graduate.
Will photos be taken during the course? Am I allowed to take my own photos?
Yes. Photos and videos will be taken during the course. By registering for the course, you consent to the use of these recordings.
In addition, two photo booths and a 360° camera will be available for you to take souvenir photos and videos. (In addition, a group photo of the graduating class will be taken at the end of the event, featuring a symbolic hat toss. This photo will be provided to you free of charge afterward.)
Of course, you’re also welcome to take your own photos.
Will there be a group photo, and how do I get it?
Yes. You will receive the group photo, featuring the collective hat toss, via email shortly after the event.
Can I temporarily leave the premises during the course?
Yes. After registration, you will receive a colored wristband that serves as your access pass for the event hall. With this wristband, you can briefly leave the premises during the course and re-enter afterward. Please wear the wristband throughout the entire event.
Where can I find more information?
Will food and drinks be available?
Yes. A selection of beverages and various hot and cold dishes will be available for purchase.

Can I rent a gown and cap?
Yes. Graduates have the option to rent academic regalia—consisting of a gown and cap—for the duration of the ceremony. The regalia must be ordered from our partner, Robe Academicus, before the ceremony, no later than November 20, 2026. You can find the link to the provider here; the code is: KIT.
A rental fee of € 15.00 is charged for the gown and cap. In addition, a deposit of € 15.00 must be paid. Once the attire is returned, the deposit will be refunded to the specified account.
Pickup
About one week before the ceremony, you will receive an email with your personal pickup time. Pickup will take place in the coat check area in the basement of the Stadthalle Karlsruhe.
The attire may also be picked up by an authorized representative. Please bring this letter and a copy of your ID card with you. Multiple items of attire can be picked up during a single appointment.
If you accidentally specified the wrong size, that’s not a problem. You can try on different sizes on site.
Return
Clothing must be returned immediately after the celebration, no later than 6:00 p.m., in the lower coat check area of the Karlsruhe Stadthalle.
Please note that this is the only return time.
How many guests may I bring?
You may bring as many guests as you like to the Doctoral Graduation at 11:00 a.m.
To the Graduation Bachelor/Master at 2:00 p.m. you may bring two guests. If seats are still available at the Stadthalle Karlsruhe after the registration deadline, we will let you know about the option to purchase additional tickets.
Will the event be translated into other languages?
Yes. For translations into English and other languages, you can use the KIT Lecture Translator app on your mobile device during the event.
Are children allowed to attend?
Children are, of course, welcome to attend the event. Children ages 3 and older require a ticket. Children ages 0 to 2 are admitted free of charge but do not receive a ticket and are therefore not entitled to a seat.
How long does the event last?
The stage program will last approximately 90 minutes. Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to mingle in the foyer and purchase food and drinks.
