When and where will the graduation ceremony take place?
The doctorate ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Hebel-Saal at the Stadthalle at the Karlsruhe Congress Center.
The Bachelor’s/Master’s graduation ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Brahms-Saal at the Stadthalle at the Karlsruhe Convention Center.
Is there a dress code?
The course will take place in a festive setting. Please choose clothing in which you feel comfortable. We recommend a smart-casual look.
Graduates have the option to rent a academic gown and cap through Robe Academicus for a fee until November 20, 2026. You will automatically receive more information about the rental process after registering for the course, or you can find it at https://www.km.kit.edu/graduation/dresscode.php.
Is the course accessible to people with disabilities?
Yes. Both the event rooms in the Stadthalle Karlsruhe and the surrounding divisions are accessible. Accessible parking spaces are located on Parking Deck C of the “Kongresszentrum” underground parking garage. An elevator is available in the hallway near the “Hotel” exit.
How do I get to the course?
The Congress Center is very easily accessible by public transportation. The name of the destination stop is Karlsruhe Congress Center (U). The “Kongresszentrum” public underground parking garage, which has 1,000 parking spaces, is part of the Kongresszentrum. Accessible parking spaces are located on parking deck C. If these are not sufficient, the mother-and-child parking spaces may also be used. The elevator is located in the hallway of the “Hotel” exit. The parking garage has three green-marked EV charging station parking spaces, also on parking deck C. Here you can charge your electric vehicle (with a Type 2 plug) for a fee. Please note: The ceiling height is 1.90 meters.
What is included in the price?
Your ticket grants you access to the graduation ceremony. Admission to the course is only permitted with a valid ticket.

There you will receive:
- a beverage voucher for a glass of sparkling wine or a non-alcoholic alternative,
- a colored wristband for access to your assigned event hall,
- and, as a graduate, a gift voucher.
Will photos be taken during the course? May I take my own photos?
Yes. Photos and videos will be taken during the course. By registering for the course, you consent to the use of these recordings.
For personal mementos of your graduation, a professionally lit photo backdrop for selfies, two 360° cameras, and an exclusive photo spot will be available, where you can have your picture taken professionally by our team of photographers. At the end of the course, a group photo of the graduating class will also be taken, featuring the symbolic tossing of the caps. You will receive this photo free of charge afterward as a memento of your special day.
Of course, you’re also welcome to take your own photos.
Is there a group photo, and how do I get it?
Yes. You’ll receive the group photo showing everyone tossing their caps in the air via email shortly after the course.
Can I temporarily leave the premises during the course?
Yes. After registration, you’ll receive a colored wristband that serves as your access pass to the event hall. With this wristband, you can briefly leave the premises during the course and re-enter afterward. Please wear the wristband throughout the entire course.

Will food and drinks be available?
Yes. A selection of beverages and various hot and cold dishes will be available for purchase.

Can I rent a gown and cap?
Yes. Graduates have the option to rent academic regalia—consisting of a gown and cap—for the duration of the course. The attire must be ordered from our partner, Robe Academicus, before the course, no later than November 20, 2026. You can find the link to the provider here; the code is: KIT.
A rental fee of €15.00 is charged for the gown and cap. In addition, a deposit of €15.00 must be paid. After the attire is returned, the deposit will be refunded to the specified account.
Pickup
About one week before the ceremony, you will receive your personal pickup time via email. Pickup will take place in the Neff Hall on the ground floor of the Stadthalle Karlsruhe.
The attire may also be picked up by an authorized representative. Please bring this letter and a copy of your ID card with you. Multiple items of clothing can be picked up during a single appointment.
If you accidentally specified the wrong size, that’s no problem. You can try on different sizes on-site.
Return
Returns must be made immediately after the celebration, no later than 6:00 p.m., in the Neff Hall at the Karlsruhe City Hall.
Please note that this is the only return date.
How many guests may I bring?
For the Doctorate Promotion at 11:00 a.m. and the Bachelor’s/Master’s Graduation at 2:00 p.m., you may bring as many guests as you like (for a fee).
Will the course be translated into other languages?
Yes. For translation into English and other languages, you can use the KIT Lecture Translator app on your mobile device on-site.
Are children allowed to attend?
Children are, of course, welcome to attend the course. Children ages 3 and older require a ticket. Children ages 0 to 2 are admitted free of charge but do not receive a ticket and therefore are not entitled to a seat.
How long does the course last?
The stage program will last approximately 90 minutes. Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to mingle in the lobby and purchase food and drinks.
Can I cancel my tickets?
Cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations or rescheduling requests submitted in writing at least 21 calendar days before the event begins will result in a full refund of the invoice amount.
If participation is canceled 20 or fewer calendar days before the course begins, or if the participant does not attend the course, the full participation fee is due. A rebooking to a substitute participant is possible at any time free of charge and does not need to be reported for accompanying persons.
Is there a livestream?
The stage program will be broadcast via livestream. We will provide the corresponding access link on our website well in advance of the course.
