Entry requirements

This Master’s programme is intentionally demanding and designed for high-achieving, analytical students with an interest in technology and medicine.
You need:
- A Bachelor’s degree (minimum 180 ECTS) in a related subject such as Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Natural Sciences
- Basic knowledge of Mathematics (12 credits) and Information Technology (12 credits)
- English language proficiency at B2 level (for example demonstrated through school qualifications, an English-taught degree, or tests such as TOEFL or IELTS)

Comprehensive Support from Day One
At KIT, international students are well supported from the start. Even before your arrival, the International Students Office helps with important matters such as applications, visas and enrolment. Welcome events and orientation days help you settle in quickly on campus and in Karlsruhe. Throughout your studies, a range of advisory services is available – whether you need help with organisation, academic planning or personal matters.
You will also benefit from many additional support services. At the Language Centre, you can improve your German or English skills. The House of Competence offers workshops on topics such as presentations, time management and intercultural skills. There are also many opportunities to meet people and build your network through mentoring programmes, student initiatives and international events. This helps you quickly feel at home and become part of KIT’s open and international community.

Karlsruhe – A Vibrant Student City

Karlsruhe is a lively and student-friendly city. Our South Campus is located right in the city centre, offering a wide range of cafés, restaurants and shops. At the same time, Karlsruhe is compact and easy to explore by public transport or bicycle. The campus is also just a short walk from Karlsruhe Palace and its gardens – a popular place to relax and meet friends during the summer.
Karlsruhe lies in the heart of Europe and offers excellent national and international transport connections. Paris can be reached in under three hours by train. Frankfurt Airport, with worldwide connections, is only around 60 minutes away. Karlsruhe also has excellent rail links to other parts of Germany.
